Uterine Fibroids: Treatment Information, Risks & A Personal Testimonial
As a successful supermodel, actress, author, and business woman, I’ve led a privileged life. Much of my career has centered around my health and taking care of my body, and I have always had access to top-notch doctors, personal trainers, and coaches.

I’m a lucky woman. But, I wasn’t lucky enough to be immune to one of the most common gynecological conditions faced by women today: uterine fibroids.

I started getting uterine fibroids in my 30s. In 1997, when I was 45, I had some of the fibroids removed surgically, but two years later, they were back again. I consulted with two doctors; both recommended complete removal of my uterus and ovaries. I had the procedure, and unfortunately, suffered severe complications from it.

While a hysterectomy is a viable choice for some women, there are other treatment options that may be better suited for others. I wasn’t given an option, and I admit, I didn’t do research to learn what else was available.
